I have some bug bites and rash on my skin that is constantly itching. I have some cream for burns, so I was wondering if it helped a burn on the skin, that it may help my rash and bites? Does anyone know? Thanx
Anyone know anything about the medicine called Silver sulfadiazine cream for skin?
Silver sulfadiazine, a sulfa drug, is used to prevent and treat infections of second- and third-degree burns. It kills a wide variety of bacteria.
This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
Reply:No, it's just for burns to prevent infection, I wouldn't use it on a rash or bites. Try using calamine lotion or cortizone cream, they both work well and can be bought at any drugstore. Good luck!
Reply:it's an antibiotic cream for rashes or open wound
Reply:I have used silver sulfadiazine for sunburn before and it works great on that. It is used for treating a bacterial infection in a burn. While doctors can prescribe this for other uses, I would not recommend using it for an itch or rash until you have talked with your doctor to determine what is causing the rash. Silver Sulfadiazine can be used only against bacteria, not viral infections. Also, the common side effects are hives; itching; rash; redness; skin discoloration... therefore it may not be useful in treating itching skin, unless the itch is caused by a bacteria.
Reply:It is a potent cream to treat infected wounds and is not to be used for something like bites. You see, this cream is NOT to be applied to a healthy skin. For example,if you have an infected, not healing sore, you would apply the cream to the wound bed only and you would make sure you do not go over the edges of the sore in order to stay away from the healthy skin tissue...The best bet?See a Dermatologist(if you have an insurance coverage) for your rashes. It could be something that needs his attention...If you can not afford a doctor,go to a pharmacy and ask the Pharmacist(not the pharm tech) for help.
Reply:Silver Sulfadiazine is an antibiotic burn cream. It is used to prevent or treat serious infection from burns. I would not use it for bug bites.
For bug bites; scrub the bite well with soap and water, let it dry, then rub hydrocortisone cream into the bite. Put another dab of hydrocortisone right on top, and then cover it with a band-aid.
For heat rash; baby diaper cream works well.
If either are severe then you might need to go to the doctor...
